SIR PAUL MCCARTNEY has fuelled rumours he is set to wed American heiress NANCY SHEVELL afterward allegedly seeking out their families' approval of their union.
The match sparked reports they were set to walk down the aisle in April (08) after MCCartney was spotted shopping at top London jewellers S.J. Phillips for an apparent troth ring.
And the pair have reportedly sought the blessing of their families, reports Britain's News of the World paper.
A source tells the publishing, "Paul's dead enchanted with Nancy and he's already rolling the idea of marriage around in his head. He adores everything about her. He thinks she's 'The One' and told (his daughter) Stella as lots.
"He said, 'What would you say if I asked Nancy to be the next Mrs MCCartney?' And she joked back, 'At least she's financially independent.' The whole kin thinks Nancy's great - a vast improvement on Paul's lowest love interest."
Earlier this month (Aug08) the pair embarked on a road trip-up across America - and are aforementioned to have journeyed 1,000 miles from New York to Springfield, Illinois.
The source adds: "They've been with each other 24/7 - a complete way to see if they're suitable for wedding. Paul's not about to rush into anything, but he's happier than he's been for years. They've got so much in common. He knows Heather was a mistake, although he loves their small one (daughter) Bea more than anything, and won't be place off by a bad divorce experience."
Meanwhile Shevell, 47, is reportedly rushing to finalise her own split up to U.S. lawyer Bruce Blakeman.
The source continues, "Nancy and Bruce suffer been detached a long time but her relationship with Paul has spurred them on to finally dissolve the marriage. They've moved on with their lives and Bruce approves of Paul. It's all amicable."
MCCartney and his moment wife, Heather Mills, were divorced last year (07), resulting in a $46 million (GBP23million) settlement being paid to Mills.
